Is vegan dogfood good for dogs?

High-profile dog-owners including F1 driver Lewis Hamilton endorse and feed their pet dogs a vegan diet. So can our domesticated ‘wolves’ do well as herbivores? We ask animal physiologist Dr David Marlin about the nutritional value of vegan dog food. Plus we do a simple taste test between meat, a meat and vegetable mix and an off-the-shelf vegan dog food.

  1. Garlic? BS, Garlic is beneficial to dogs, the study of garlic was hideous amounts, several cloves per day and that caused the issues.
1/4 clove per day is good for immune system. You make so many false claims.
Let’s kids choose McDonald’s, lollies and chocolate over healthy fruit and veges. If you house junk and allow them to access it. Of course kids and dogs will go to junk food.
Its not a good test at all.

  2. The guardian just reported on this with a peer reviewed study where it was basically the same for dogs with the younger dogs doing better on meat only however it causes other issues such as parasites etc

  3. Kinda ironic how you give raw animals to them but then kibble as the vegan option. Maybe try fruit/veggies as the vegan option.

  4. Dogs have been eating high carb diets for thousands of generations. Meat was considered too valuable to give to the dogs. Look at the way the ancient greeks used to feed dogs. Some new studies show vegan kibble might be healthier than standard kibble. Also dogs can eat some avocado and garlic. This dude knows less than he realizes
